Parent/Child Classes

Info
We are excited to now be offering two different parent/child class options for our youngest Flippers! All parent/child classes are 30 minutes in length. Be prepared to get in the pool with your little one and sing along to popular children’s songs that have been adjusted (just a little) to match the activity/skill being taught!
These classes are typically held in our indoor Lesson Pool, which is heated to about 88°F year-round. We hold several Baby and Little Flippers classes each week; email or check your Parent Portal to see which classes have openings!
Baby Flippers
This class is a fun, upbeat introduction to water for parents/caregivers and their little ones! While this class is primarily focused on water acclimation, various safety topics will be discussed, as well as an introduction to beginner level swim skills from the safety of a loved ones arms! Baby Flippers classes are for our younger students, ages 6 months to 3yrs depending on maturity and confidence. Our Baby Flippers classes are capped at 10 students, and both parents (or two trusted grown-ups) are welcome to join
- A majority of our Baby Flippers classes are open for any child between the age of 6 months through 3yrs, but please note that a few Baby Flippers classes on the schedule are split up by age! Those age ranges are 6 months through 20 months and 20 months through 3yrs.
NEW Little Flippers
This new Parent/Child class is a great starting point, stepping stone, or landing zone for children between the ages of 20 months to 4yrs. Little Flippers classes are capped at 8 students, with at least one grown-up joining us in the water per student. The smaller class size allows for more individualized attention and opportunities for skill development prior to the child moving to private or small group lessons!
All of these skills are intended to be completed with assistance, meaning the grown-up is learning to help the child do the skill as much as the child is learning about the skill!

FAQ

Do you offer make-up classes?
If your child is sick we do offer makeup classes. If your child will miss class, please submit an absence through the JackRabbit parent portal.
What should we bring to class?
Children who are not potty trained must wear a swim diaper with a cover over it. Bring a towel and a pair of goggles for your child.
Can my swimmer wear goggles?
For kids ages 2 and above we recommend they bring goggles to class! We also have children practice swimming without goggles, so they do not become too reliant.
Can I request a specific instructor?
With our online scheduling system, you can request an instructor based on availability.
Can I watch the swim lesson?
We have plenty of chairs for the family to watch the class! For the baby class, any family member is welcome in the water to swim with the child.
Can we come early or stay late after lessons to practice?
If you would like to come to the pool and practice we recommend getting a pool membership. Information on pool memberships can be found at https://www.oconeeaquatics.com/memberships
What happens if weather causes classes to be canceled?
If classes are to be canceled, customers will receive an email with options to either receive a lesson credit or schedule a makeup class. We have 2 indoor pools so outdoor classes will be moved inside in case of rain.
How long will it take for my swimmer to learn?
The Baby Flippers class is meant to introduce children to the water and get them more comfortable! We do practice independent swimming and floating in the class if your child is ready. For students who master the class we recommend scheduling group and private lessons. These are available to children ages 2 and up.
